Initial diagnosis & surgery

2000 June - July

After a few weeks of a 2 year-old Kara complaining of headaches and having balance problems, and after a couple of fruitless visits to the GP, I decided to take Kara to A&E at St Helier. We were kept in overnight and the following day a number of tests were done. A CT scan revealed a brain tumour the size of a satsuma. We were transferred to Atkinson Morley, a specialist neurosurgical hospital in Wimbledon. On Monday 12th Kara underwent a 6-hour operation to remove the tumour. We stayed in hospital for 5 weeks.
